In physio we use the banded clams exercise in a different way than what's happening in the gym at the mo'... For a single leg supine banded clam we are after glute activation as well as pelvic stability. Doing 2 legs at the same time isn't going to teach our pain and injury patients how to stabilize at the core and move at the hip! If you can't do that then the strength is not going to be very effective in rehab. Usually it's in sidelying but for some the supine option is the go when they can't lie on their side due to a painful hip.
