museums in london #SharkWeek Shark Dissection Class at the Houston Museum of Natural Science

During #SharkWeek the education department at the Houston Museum of Natural Science hosted two shark dissection classes in the museum's classroom wing, showing patrons the ins and outs of a spiny dogfish shark specimen.

While most people merely watch sharks on TV during Shark Week, here at HMNS we offered up a chance for patrons to learn about the important roles sharks play in ecosystems and about their unique physical characteristics.

A museum biologist instructed everyone in the careful dissection of the shark and the patrons left with a newfound appreciation of these special and somewhat mysterious inhabitants of the sea.
